Insulation Contractor for Bayfield & the Pine River Valley
Spray foam, Rockwool, and cellulose for Bayfield homes, new builds, and ranch shops, from Gem Village up to Forest Lakes and Vallecito. Our crew runs west on US-160 from Pagosa Springs, about 40 miles and under an hour. Foam Insulation Specialists has been at this since 2000.

Just down US-160 from our Pagosa shop
Bayfield is about 40 miles west of our shop at 412 Bastille Dr, a drive of roughly 50 minutes on US-160 past Chimney Rock. That's close enough that Bayfield is part of our regular route. The walkthrough is free, and if a job needs a second visit, we come back.
It also means you're dealing with the people who do the work. Michael Richline, who acquired FIS in 2026 and leads it, and the crew are a phone call away at 970-749-5711, Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm Mountain.
What we see in Bayfield buildings
New builds in growing subdivisions
Bayfield keeps adding houses. Open framing is the best time to foam the roofline and walls and seal the rim joist, before drywall goes up and the chance is gone.
Ranch shops and pole barns
Steel shops and post-frame barns on acreage between Bayfield, Gem Village, and Ignacio. Closed-cell on the steel stops the condensation drip. More on our metal building insulation page.
Lake cabins at Vallecito
Up the valley at Vallecito Reservoir, cabins sit higher than town and see more snow and colder nights. Many are empty part of the year, which is exactly when a cold crawlspace or a leaky ceiling causes trouble.
Pine River valley winters
At about 6,900 feet, Bayfield sits a little lower and a touch milder than Pagosa Springs, but it's still a real mountain winter: clear, bright days, nights well below freezing, and wind across the open valley that finds every gap in a wall.
The Bayfield houses that feel drafty usually leak in the same few places: the rim joist, the attic hatch and top plates, and a crawlspace open to the cold. Sealing those comes before adding insulation. See crawlspace insulation and attic insulation for how we handle each.
What we install in Bayfield
Spray foam insulation: Icynene open-cell and closed-cell for new builds, vaulted ceilings, and rim joists.
Rockwool mineral wool: dense batts for quiet bedrooms and the wall to the garage.
Blown-in cellulose: the lower-cost attic top-up for older homes in town.
Metal buildings, shops and barns, attics, and crawlspaces, too. Everything we do is on the insulation services page.

Bayfield insulation questions
How far is Bayfield from your shop?
About 40 miles west on US-160, a little under an hour from Pagosa Springs. The walkthrough is free in Bayfield, the same as in town.
Do you work at Vallecito and Forest Lakes?
Yes. Lake cabins at Vallecito, homes in Forest Lakes, and acreage out toward Gem Village and Ignacio are all part of our La Plata County work.
Can you look at my shop and my house on the same visit?
Yes. Plenty of Bayfield properties have a house and a steel shop or barn on the same land. We'll walk both and quote them together or separately, whichever you prefer.
Do you work with builders on new homes?
Yes. We work with custom builders and general contractors, and we schedule the insulation to fit the project: after rough-ins, before drywall.
